We're a profitable Series C company valued at $10 billion, operating in-person in San Francisco, NYC, or London. **About the Role** Lead the team building systems that turn complex multimodal data (images, video, audio, documents) into reliable, customer-ready products at scale. This is a player-coach role split between technical contribution and people leadership—you'll write production code, own architecture decisions, and manage a high-performing engineering team. **Key Responsibilities** • Set technical and product strategy for multimodal data products • Design systems supporting the full lifecycle: processing, review, validation, versioning, delivery • Build quality systems combining automated evaluation, model-assisted checks, and expert review • Ensure traceability and auditability across all outputs • Own reliability, performance, and cost of storage-heavy, compute-intensive workflows • Write production code and lead design reviews • Manage, develop, and recruit engineers with clear expectations and meaningful ownership • Partner with product, ML, operations, and customer teams **What We're Looking For** • Experience managing strong engineering teams while remaining hands-on technically • Deep expertise in production backend, distributed, or data-intensive systems • Experience with large unstructured data, asynchronous processing, or compute-heavy workflows • Relevant background: multimedia infrastructure, computer vision, video/audio processing, ML platforms, or annotation systems • Strong judgment on platform boundaries and generalization • Track record taking zero-to-one products through architecture and production • Ability to recruit, coach, and retain excellent engineers **Benefits** Bi-annual bonus • Generous equity (4-year vest) • Up to $15k relocation • $10k housing bonus • $1.5k monthly meals • Free Equinox • $200 laundry reimbursement • $200 wellness reimbursement • Health/Dental/Vision insurance
