**Technical Program Manager, Storage & Data Infrastructure** **About the Role** OpenAI seeks a technically deep TPM to independently define and lead multiple programs across data platforms, online databases, and storage infrastructure. You will connect model, product, and data-consumer requirements to architecture, working with engineering teams to take new capabilities through production adoption. **Key Responsibilities** • Translate model, product, and data-platform needs into precise access patterns, consistency, durability, and scalability requirements • Partner with engineering to transform data and storage architecture into repeatable scale units • Lead cross-stack programs connecting ingestion, processing, databases, indexes, and file/object storage • Make cost and efficiency architectural inputs across physical/logical footprint, tiering, and caching • Drive resilience and recovery programs with explicit failure scenarios and validation • Coordinate lifecycle correctness across files, objects, databases, and data platforms • Lead adoption and major migrations through compatibility checks and staged cutovers • Measure architecture changes through product and platform outcomes **Ideal Candidate** • Independently owned complex production programs in data platforms, databases, or storage infrastructure • Deep knowledge of hyperscaler/cloud storage (S3, Azure Blob Storage, etc.) • Understands full data and storage stack: APIs, ingestion, databases, caching, replication, and durable storage • Can translate requirements into precise platform specifications • Led delivery across product, model, data, database, storage, and infrastructure teams • Uses workload evidence to make tradeoffs across capability, reliability, latency, and cost **Location** San Francisco, CA (Hybrid: 3 days/week in office) **About OpenAI** OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
