**Applied AI Engineer, Government** **About the Team** The Applied AI Engineering team enables secure and impactful GenAI solution implementation, serving as technical thought partners to clients. In the Government team, you'll help agencies evolve operations through automated content synthesis, advanced search, and custom applications. **About the Role** We're seeking a solutions leader with a product mindset to partner with public sector customers and drive tangible GenAI value. You'll work with federal, state, and local agencies to establish GenAI strategy, identify high-value applications, and move projects from prototype to production. **Key Responsibilities** • Embed with sophisticated public sector customers as technical lead and thought partner • Identify best GenAI applications and build comprehensive AI roadmaps • Build prototypes and deliver strategic guidance to accelerate customer value • Manage relationships with customer and partner leadership • Contribute to open-source developer resources • Share knowledge and codify best practices • Deliver feedback to Product, Engineering, and Research teams **What We're Looking For** • 7+ years technical consulting experience with U.S. public sector customers • Proven success leading GenAI or ML implementations for government agencies • Understanding of network, cloud, and on-premise architecture • Strong communication skills across technical and business audiences • Programming experience (Python, Go, or Typescript) • End-to-end problem ownership and self-directed learning • Collaborative mindset and high-throughput execution **Location**: Washington, DC (relocation support available) **About OpenAI** OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company ensuring general-purpose AI benefits all of humanity.
