Varda’s W-Series vehicles are built, designed, and operated in-house, including pharmaceutical processing payloads, capsules, C-PICA heat shields, and satellite buses. ## About This Role **Embedded Software Engineer II** (Flight Software team) is responsible for how our spacecraft behaves and operates in orbit, and for building reliable software to make that happen. You’ll own development from requirements capture through testing and flight operational support. ## Responsibilities - Develop reliable firmware to control spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations across the entire mission - Own all aspects of software development: design, testing, and integration - Scope projects, including requirements capture and initial design trade studies for open-ended problems - Write quality structured **bare metal**, **RTOS**, or **Linux-based** embedded software in **C++** - Build highly reliable and available software systems - Ensure system quality and performance using software **test**, **verification**, and **validation (V&V)** techniques ## Basic Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in CS, math, physics, engineering, or equivalent experience in safety-critical software - 3+ years developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software - Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware/software systems - Experience with **C++** and strong understanding of language concepts ## Preferred Skills and Experience - Safety-critical software experience, especially aerospace - Experience with additional languages such as **Python** or **Rust** - Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking ## Pay Range & Location - **Software Engineer II:** **$144,020 – $184,026** per year - This role is **on-site in El Segundo, CA** ## Benefits (Highlights) - Flexible PTO + 12 paid holidays - 100% company-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision for employees and dependents (with FSA and employer-matched HSA options) - Wellness reimbursement ($120/month) - 12 weeks parental leave (with supplemental disability leave for CA mothers) - Equity incentives (stock options and/or long-term cash awards) - 401(k) retirement plan with 6% employer match (immediately vested) *Note: Benefits list is based on the provided description content.*
