**Senior Backend Engineer — Gremlin** Gremlin helps software teams proactively monitor and test systems for reliability risks—so outages don’t happen and customer confidence stays intact. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll build Chaos Engineering tooling that improves the reliability of the internet. --- ### What you’ll do - Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to design and build Chaos Engineering tooling - Deliver new features in a remote culture using strong communication and teamwork - Partner with product and business units to understand business problems and present technical solutions and tradeoffs - Actively mentor and grow teammates - Care deeply about customer experience --- ### What we’re looking for - **5+ years** professional **Java** software engineering experience - Experience with **Go** and **systems-level programming** - Cloud experience (e.g., **AWS, Lambda, Serverless**). Other cloud experience (Google, Oracle) is a plus - Experience with **DynamoDB and/or other NoSQL** or major **relational databases** - Infrastructure & systems-level technologies (e.g., **Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift**) - Experience architecting complex distributed systems and integrating with external systems - Strong advocate/practitioner of **automated testing**, **CI/CD**, and engineering best practices **Bonus** - On-call experience and participation in incident management - Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks & web development (e.g., **React, TypeScript**) - Experience taking features from concept through full production release --- ### Notes - **The role does not offer sponsorship.** - If you don’t meet every requirement but are interested, you’re encouraged to apply—nobody checks every box. --- ### Compensation - Expected salary range: **$220,000 – $290,000** - Final offer varies based on skills, assessment, and budget/market data - Competitive total compensation including **401(k) matching, equity**, and benefits such as **flexible time off** and **paid company holidays** --- ### About Gremlin Gremlin is a team of industry veterans focused on reliability.
