**Senior Applied AI Engineer — Abby Care (Hybrid, San Francisco)** **About Abby Care** Abby Care is building the leading AI-native platform for family-led care. We’re helping address the care crisis by empowering family caregivers with the tools, training, and recognition they deserve—combining clinical oversight with an AI-powered platform to train, enable, and support care at home. **The Opportunity** Abby Care is creating an AI-native operating system for home care that manages the full lifecycle—from caregiver and patient intake through care delivery, billing, and compliance. As we scale to support more family caregivers, we’re looking for a **Senior Applied AI Engineer** to design and build production AI systems that automate complex, consequential healthcare workflows. You’ll report to the **Applied AI Leader** and own major initiatives from problem definition through production deployment and measurable impact. Depending on the problem, you may build systems such as: - Agents that collect and interpret clinical documentation across multiple records - Tools that prepare prior authorization packets - Systems that assist clinicians during visits - Models that identify billing risk - Workflows that coordinate operational follow-up You’ll determine how workflows should be decomposed, what context and tools the AI needs, how behavior should be evaluated, where deterministic controls are required, and when a human must intervene. **What You’ll Work On** - **Own high-impact AI systems end to end:** Lead initiatives from workflow discovery and technical design through production deployment, iteration, and measurable business or care outcomes. - **Build reliable agents and copilots:** Develop systems that reason over structured and unstructured data, use internal tools, and execute multi-step workflows across intake, care delivery, billing, and operations. - **Engineer for real-world complexity:** Design systems that handle incomplete information and conflicting evidence. **Role Details** - **Full-time, hybrid** - **San Francisco, California** - **4 days per week in person** *If you’re excited to apply frontier AI capabilities to difficult, high-impact problems while transforming care in the home, we’d love to hear from you.*
