We design, build, and operate an autonomous logistics system that delivers critical supplies quickly and reliably—operating on four continents and completing millions of deliveries to date. **About the Software Integration Team** Zipline’s Software Integration team ensures the software that powers our aircraft works reliably and safely in the real world. You’ll work at the intersection of robotics, embedded software, and systems engineering—integrating planning, perception, and controls software across simulation and real operations. **The Role** As a **Software Integration Intern**, you’ll apply technical and engineering skills to real-world problems. You’ll use data science and programming to support hardware systems integration and engineering projects, working with large datasets and modern data tools to create actionable insights. Familiarity with **Python** and **SQL** is helpful, but a strong willingness to learn is most important. **What You’ll Do** - **Data Analysis & Modeling:** Analyze datasets from engineering systems and vehicle sensors to uncover patterns and support predictive modeling. - **Data Visualization:** Create clear charts and dashboards using tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, or Tableau. - **Dashboard Development:** Help build and maintain real-time dashboards tracking key metrics and system performance. - **Data Engineering:** Clean, preprocess, and organize datasets; write simple SQL queries and work with databases. - **Machine Learning:** Assist with model development and validation for autonomy applications. - **Scientific Programming:** Build small data pipelines, automate processes, and run simulations. - **Software Development:** Support scripts/tools that improve workflows and automation. **What You’ll Bring** - **Education:** Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. - **Technical Skills:** - Python for scientific programming (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Plotly) - Basic SQL - Git/version control, debugging, and documentation are a plus - **Mathematical & Analytical Skills:** Coursework or experience with statistics, linear algebra, or numerical methods; interest in applying engineering + data analysis to real problems. - **Problem-Solving:** Curiosity and analytical thinking; ability to frame engineering problems as data science problems. - **Communication Skills:** Ability to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical teammates; strong written/verbal skills. - **Machine Learning & Data Modeling:** Familiarity with ML concepts/frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras) and some experience via coursework/projects/self-study. - **Bonus Qualifications:** - Robotics/automation or sensor data exposure - Object-oriented programming exposure (e.g., C++ or Java) - Cloud/big data tools familiarity (AWS/GCP/Azure, Spark/Hadoop) helpful but not required **What Else You Should Know** - **Internship type:** Full-time, **in-person** at our **South San Francisco** office. - **Summer 2027 timeframe:** May/June to August/September. - **Application limit:** Candidates are limited to **three (3) applications within a 30-day period**. - *
