**Site Reliability Engineer, Lead** **About Waymo** Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips and has autonomously driven over 100 million miles on public roads across 15+ U.S. states. **The Role** As the Pipeline SRE Lead, you'll drive the reliability of critical release pipelines and lead strategy for observability, incident management, capacity planning, and continuous improvement of production systems. You'll be accountable for investigating and resolving novel events during software release processes while proactively partnering with engineering to enhance system robustness. **What You'll Do** • Drive incident response processes, retrospectives, and continuous improvement • Organize and participate in on-call rotations for release-oriented outages • Harden software, develop playbooks, and improve system robustness • Lead engineering analysis and response to unexpected events • Champion reliability engineering culture across the organization • Contribute to system architecture improvements **What You Have** • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field • 10+ years experience with large-scale production software systems • 10+ years hands-on C++ coding experience • Experience organizing and running on-call rotations • Deep expertise in distributed systems, observability, and incident management • Strong background in cloud infrastructure and production operations at scale • Proficiency with automation, infrastructure, and modern DevOps/SRE tooling • Track record of improving system reliability through data-driven approaches **We Prefer** • Experience leading hybrid hardware/software production systems • Experience with modern deep ML and large-scale models • Track record of driving change in large engineering organizations **Compensation** $298,000 — $368,000 USD + bonus, equity, and benefits **Work Schedule** Hybrid
