**Lead Applied AI Engineer** @ LangChain **Location:** New York, NY (Onsite) **About the Role:** We're seeking a hands-on Lead Applied AI Engineer to drive technical projects end-to-end and mentor engineers on our Applied AI team. You'll design, implement, and deploy AI workflows and agents solving real problems across business domains, while setting the technical bar for code quality, testing, and documentation. **Key Responsibilities:** • Design and deploy end-to-end AI workflows and agents • Develop agent architectures, evaluation pipelines, and performance frameworks • Mentor engineers through code review and design discussions • Translate customer and stakeholder requirements into technical plans • Drive improvements to internal tooling, frameworks, and processes • Collaborate cross-functionally on agent-driven automation opportunities • Contribute to LangChain and LangGraph ecosystem **What You'll Bring:** • 4+ years software engineering experience with LLM-powered applications/agents in production • Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers • Hands-on expertise with evaluation and monitoring systems for agents • Deep understanding of AI system components (prompting, retrieval, orchestration, inference APIs, model selection) • Strong Python or TypeScript skills (ideally both) • Excellent communication and ability to simplify complex technical concepts • Thrives in fast-moving startup environments **Nice to Have:** • LangChain or LangGraph expertise • Open source project experience **Compensation:** $160,000 - $200,000 + equity + benefits (medical, dental, vision, flexible vacation, 401k, life insurance)
