**Software Engineer, II - Data Engineering** **About the Company** Torc is a leader in autonomous driving since 2007, now part of the Daimler family. We're focused on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight. **Meet the Team** Torc's Data Engineering team is a highly collaborative, distributed, remote-first group focused on building secure, scalable systems. We operate with daily standups, planning sessions, and ad hoc discussions. Each engineer participates in business hour on-call rotation, with a priority on healthy work/life balance. **What You'll Do** • Create robust pipelines to process massive daily volumes of data from vehicle fleets and simulation environments • Build and support scalable pipelines for ML training at scale • Scale Torc's data lake through distributed storage, data crawling, and discovery • Promote data integrity through validation, versioning, and governance • Support expansion of the data lake with internal and external data sources • Contribute to design, architecture, and delivery of cloud-based solutions • Collaborate with perception, planning, control, mapping, and testing teams • Support implementation of emerging cloud capabilities for safety-critical software • Participate in on-call rotation during business hours **Tech Stack** AWS (Lambda, SFN, Batch, EventBridge, Athena, Glue) • Linux/Bash • Docker • Terraform • Python • React/Javascript • Datadog • Jenkins/GitHub Actions **What You'll Need** • Bachelor's in CS, Robotics, EE, or related field + 4+ years experience OR Master's + 0-3+ years experience • Experience deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining Linux systems • Public cloud workload experience • Knowledge of relational, NoSQL, vector stores, data warehousing, and distributed data stores • Linux and bash scripting proficiency • Docker and containerization experience • DAG workflow patterns (Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions) • Strong commitment to TDD, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code **Bonus Points** • Databricks platform experience • Ray for ML/AI workload scaling • Python data analysis libraries (pandas, numpy) • AWS serverless architectures expertise • Robotics and ADAS data patterns • End-to-end cloud solution architecture **Perks** • Competitive compensation with bonus and stock options • 100% paid medical, dental, and vision premiums • 401K with 6% employer match • Flexible schedule and generous paid vacation • AD+D and Life Insurance • Commitment to diversity and inclusion
