**Astranis — Team Lead, Network Operations** Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, providing dedicated, secure networks to enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With satellites on orbit and a growing launch pipeline, the team supports a backlog of $1B+ in commercial contracts. ## Role We’re seeking a technical leader to coordinate and lead **Tier 2 Network Operations**. You’ll own operational support for customer networks spanning key components such as the **satellite payload, antenna systems, and ground sites (including VSAT hubs)**. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-stakes environments, enjoys complex multi-domain technical problem-solving, and loves mentoring engineers. This role supports both **commercial** and **US Government** programs. ## What you’ll do - Own **Tier 2 Network Operations** for all operational and under-development customer networks - Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational procedures for **deployment, routine maintenance, and outage recovery** - Oversee the team during **live incidents**, coordinate with mission operations and engineering for rapid resolution, and drive **root cause analyses (RCA)** to prevent recurrence - Automate repetitive manual tasks using **Python/Bash** (e.g., operational workflows and recovery scripts) - Partner with engineering to design, refine, and maintain **telemetry, monitoring dashboards, and alert pipelines** - Analyze incoming customer network requirements and design operational solutions focused on **maintainability, scalability, and security** - Support in-field deployment of ground systems, **antenna/RF commissioning**, and integration with customer networks - Provide day-to-day technical leadership, coach team members, and help with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding ## Requirements - **3–5+ years** hands-on experience in network operations, Satcom, NOC, or technical support environments - **0–1+ years** formal people management *or* demonstrated experience mentoring junior engineers - Strong foundation in **IP networking** (TCP/IP, routing & switching, BGP, VLANs, NAT, DNS) and/or **RF concepts** - Practical experience using scripting languages (e.g., **Python, Bash**) to automate tasks or parse network/telemetry data - Proven bias for action—ownership, speed, and solving high-pressure operational issues - Exceptional written and verbal communication; comfortable writing post-mortems and working with cross-functional teams and customers - Don’t meet every requirement? **Apply anyway** ## Bonus - Tier 2/3 Satcom or Telecom Network Operations experience - Hands-on familiarity with **RF terminals/antennas**, satellite payload architectures, and **VSAT hub systems** (including modulators/demodulators) - Hands-on configuration/troubleshooting with enterprise/carrier-grade hardware (e.g., **Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet**) - Experience with **Linux** system administration, network virtualization (KVM), or containerized environments ## Compensation & Benefits - Base salary range: **$130,000–$230,000 USD** - Equity (incentive stock options), high-quality company-subsidized healthcare, disability and life insurance, **401(k)**, flexible PTO, and free on-site catered meals ## Eligibility **U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required** (for U.S. export regulation compliance). *Astranis is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcomes
