**Software Engineer, Product** **About the Role** Product engineering at Descript means owning outcomes, not just tickets. You'll take problems from rough ideas to shipped, measured results, working closely with product, design, and engineering. **Team Options** • **Editor** - Simplify complex video workflows and build cutting-edge AI creative tools • **Growth & Monetization** - Own onboarding, growth loops, pricing, and billing • **Media** - Manage projects, effects, rendering, and compositing • **AI** - Develop our agentic co-editor and external APIs **What You'll Own** • End-to-end product surfaces from design through launch and measurement • Shape product direction alongside Product and Design teams • Build full-stack systems with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and more • Improve team shipping velocity and observability • Provide architectural direction and mentorship **What You Bring** • 5+ years shipping customer-facing products with measurable impact • Experience owning features end-to-end with analytics validation • Strong product intuition and attention to user experience • Ability to navigate complexity and create clarity • Effective use of AI agents to multiply impact **Nice to Have** • Experience with editors, media products, or creative tools • Familiarity with our stack (TypeScript, React, Node.js, Temporal) • AI/agent building experience • Video/graphics rendering knowledge **Compensation** Base salary: $220,000–$265,000, plus equity and benefits **About Descript** We're building an AI-powered editing tool for video and audio. 150-person team backed by OpenAI, Andreessen Horowitz, Redpoint Ventures, and Spark Capital.
