## Senior Manager, AI Engineering **Company:** HackerOne **Location:** Remote (Seattle, WA or Austin, TX area; within ~50 miles) — **in-office once per week (typically Thursdays)** --- ## About the Role HackerOne is a global leader in Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM). As a **Senior Manager, AI Engineering**, you’ll lead multiple AI engineering teams building and scaling **AI-powered capabilities** across HackerOne’s offensive security platform—helping customers **discover vulnerabilities earlier**, **remediate faster**, and **trust AI-driven security outcomes at scale**. You’ll empower Engineering Managers and senior engineers, shape how applied AI is delivered responsibly, and partner closely with **Product, Design, Data, and Security Research** to scale AI systems that combine automation with human expertise. --- ## What You’ll Do - **Multiply Your Impact:** Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering Managers and senior engineers; build scalable systems and practices for consistent delivery. - **Own the Outcome:** Drive execution across multiple AI engineering teams; manage dependencies and ensure delivery commitments and customer-visible impact. - **AI-First Engineering:** Embed AI-powered workflows, agentic systems, and responsible AI practices into product design, build, and operations. - **Practice Change Agility:** Guide teams through evolving AI technologies, shifting priorities, and emerging security threats while maintaining clarity and team health. - **First Principles Problem Solving:** Break down complex AI/product challenges and design durable, scalable solutions. - **Data-Driven Decision Making:** Use evidence to assess system performance, model quality, delivery outcomes, and operational health. - **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Partner with Product, Design, Data, Security Research, and other Engineering leaders to align with company strategy and customer needs. --- ## Minimum Qualifications - **5+ years** managing product engineering teams, including teams delivering **AI-powered or data-intensive systems** - Experience leading teams with **complex dependencies** across engineering, product, and non-technical partners - Experience developing and mentoring **Engineering Managers** - Strong technical foundation in modern software systems that support **AI-enabled products** --- ## Preferred Qualifications - Experience building or scaling **applied AI systems** in production - Familiarity with **human-in-the-loop**, agentic, or automation-driven workflows - Familiarity with HackerOne’s core stack: **PostgreSQL, Rails, GraphQL, Apollo, React** --- ## Compensation & Benefits - **Base salary:** **$240,000 – $280,000** - **Equity:** Stock options - **Benefits:** Health (medical, vision, dental), life, disability; retirement plans; paid public holidays; unlimited PTO; paid maternity and parental leave; caregiver leave and other leave options; Employee Assistance Program --- ## Notes - **Background check required** - **Equal Opportunity Employer** - For certain non-US roles, HackerOne may use **Remote.com** as Employer of Record (EOR); **visa/work permit sponsorship is not available** - For US based roles only: subject to the **San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance**
