## Staff Identity Engineer **Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human** Okta is looking for a Staff Identity Engineer to join the internal Identity team and drive the architecture and execution of our identity fabric. This is a technical leadership role where you'll champion our "Customer Zero" philosophy and help shape the future of identity security. ### What You'll Be Doing • **Drive Customer Zero Execution** — Act as a technical bridge between internal stakeholders and Product teams, leading early adoption of cutting-edge capabilities • **Architecture & Implementation** — Own policy design, adaptive MFA, and federation (SAML, OIDC) for enterprise Okta tenants; architect cloud IAM guardrails across AWS, GCP, and Azure • **Technical Leadership & Mentorship** — Serve as a core technical anchor, mentor engineers, and set technical standards across the organization • **Operational & Security Governance** — Drive automation-first initiatives and partner with Security, Audit, and Compliance teams on audit requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP) • **AI Security Integration** — Govern AI agents, machine identities, and service-to-service authentication within the enterprise identity layer • **Cross-Functional Collaboration** — Advance identity security initiatives and translate technical milestones into actionable leadership updates ### What You'll Bring • 4+ years of hands-on experience designing and maintaining enterprise-scale IAM solutions • Deep expertise in Okta Identity Engine (OIE), Directory Integrations, Advanced Policies, Workflows, and Platform APIs • Advanced expertise in OIDC, OAuth 2.0, SAML 2.0, and phishing-resistant MFA (FIDO2/WebAuthn, Passkeys) • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Okta Workflows) and multi-cloud IAM guardrails • Strong background in session security, token management, and continuous access evaluations • Demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship experience • Automation-first mindset with compliance framework experience • Occasional travel required ### Requirements **U.S. soil and U.S. person status required** — Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or U.S. national. Working on a U.S. visa does NOT qualify. ### Compensation & Benefits **Salary Range (CA, CO, IL, NY, WA):** $161,000 – $221,000 USD Okta offers equity, bonus, health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending, and paid leave (PTO and parental leave). --- *Okta is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
