**Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) – SCA (Security Control Assessor)** **Location:** Washington, DC **Responsibilities** - Assess security controls for accuracy and evidence. - Review system documentation and accept/reject documents. - Coordinate with the System Owner, ISSE, and ISSO to resolve items requiring rework. - Continuously monitor systems across the ISSM portfolio to maintain quality throughout the SAA lifecycle. - Oversee and coordinate activities within the **Prepare** step, ensuring roles, responsibilities, and risk management strategies are defined and maintained. - Guide system categorization to ensure information systems are classified appropriately based on mission/business impact and regulatory requirements. - Advise on selection, tailoring, and documentation of security controls aligned to system categorizations, risk appetite, and compliance needs. - Oversee implementation of technical, operational, and management controls across system and application lifecycles, with emphasis on deliverable quality and completeness. - Plan, execute, and document security control assessments to validate effectiveness of implemented safeguards. - Prepare risk management documentation for system authorization and executive decision-making. - Direct ongoing monitoring and continuous assessment activities; collect metrics to adjust security strategies and sustain compliance. - Serve as a principal technical advisor for cybersecurity across risk analysis, incident response, system remediation, and audit support. - Promote security awareness by providing technical guidance and training to team members and stakeholders. - Track, report, and communicate status, risks, and improvement opportunities to leadership and stakeholders. - Maintain current knowledge of RMF, NIST guidance, and industry best practices for continuous process improvement. **Qualifications** - **Required:** Bachelor’s degree and **8 years** of experience in secure design, analysis, and test of information security systems/products. - Must meet **DoD 8140.03** Advanced proficiency aligned to **Security Control Assessor (Work Role 612)**. - Must have **CISSP or CEH** and **one** of the following certifications: - CCNP Enterprise - CISM - CISSP-ISSAP - CISSP-ISSEP - GCIA - GDSA - GICSP - **OR** an Advanced degree from the list below: - Doctorate: Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering - Master’s: Strategic Information and Cyberspace Studies (NDU CIC), Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering - **Active TS/SCI security clearance** required; ability to obtain a **polygraph**. **Preferred** - Cloud certification **Peraton Overview** Peraton is a next-generation national security company that delivers trusted, highly differentiated solutions and enterprise IT capabilities to protect the nation.
