**Head of Infrastructure Services (Remote) — Full-time** **About Crossref** Crossref is a not-for-profit organisation that runs infrastructure connecting thousands of scholarly publishers and millions of research outputs, serving increasingly diverse communities across scholarly publishing, research, funding, and beyond. **Role Summary** As **Head of Infrastructure Services**, you’ll lead the strategy and evolution of Crossref’s infrastructure ecosystem. You’ll own the infrastructure roadmap and lead and develop the Infrastructure Services Team. You’ll help modernise a complex system that includes both legacy and modern components (some parts are 20+ years old and tightly coupled). The environment runs on **AWS** with **Terraform**, **Java**, **Clojure**, **Elasticsearch**, and **PostgreSQL**—with a key focus on moving toward a set of more loosely connected services. **What You’ll Do** - Own and drive the **infrastructure roadmap** - Lead the **strategy and evolution** of the infrastructure ecosystem - Modernise the platform into **more loosely connected services** - Lead, develop, and support the **Infrastructure Services Team** - Balance hands-on technical depth with strong leadership **Requirements / Fit** - Comfortable working in the **details of cloud infrastructure** - Experience growing from a **strong technical background into leadership** - Ability to use technical expertise to help a team do its best work **Location & Availability** - **Fully remote** (hiring globally) - Need **at least 2 hours overlap** with **European timezones** **Compensation** - **$120k USD** or local equivalent **Apply / Learn More** Full job description and application form: https://www.crossref.org/jobs/2026-09-01-head-of-infrastruct... **Recruitment Note** Crossref does **not use AI** in the recruitment process.
