We're building the platform that powers grocery delivery and supporting a community of shoppers and customers. **The Role** Design, build, and implement software solutions to optimize and scale the Instacart platform with an emphasis on fulfillment operations. **Key Responsibilities** • Develop highly scalable software using innovative computer science principles • Analyze and optimize complex SQL queries and system performance • Determine design solutions for problematic programming and propose new systems • Leverage AI toolsets to accelerate development and improve engineering quality • Work on cross-functional teams with large codebases **Requirements** • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field • 2+ years experience in the role or related positions • 2+ years with Java, Ruby, Python, or similar languages • 2+ years with MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or similar databases • 2+ years with client/server and application architectures • 2+ years deriving insights from complex data sets • 2+ years with advanced AI toolsets *Alternative: Bachelor's degree + 5 years progressive post-baccalaureate experience* **Compensation** Base pay: $214,000–$229,000 USD (varies by location) Equity grants, benefits, and flexible work options available **Work Style** Flex First approach—work from home, office, or anywhere. Remote role reporting to San Francisco headquarters.
