**Software Engineer (Ray Core)** **About Anyscale** Anyscale is commercializing Ray, an open-source distributed computing framework used by companies like OpenAI, Uber, Spotify, and Instacart. The mission is to democratize distributed computing and make it accessible to developers of all skill levels. **About the Role** The Ray Core team develops and maintains the Ray C++ backend, including the distributed scheduler, language runtime integration, and I/O and memory subsystems. You'll contribute to the reliability, scalability, and performance of Ray while supporting higher-level libraries and use cases. **Key Responsibilities** • Lead cross-team projects and mentor junior team members • Develop high-quality open-source software for distributed programming • Identify, implement, and evaluate architectural improvements to Ray core • Improve testing processes to ensure smooth releases • Share work through talks, tutorials, and blog posts **Project Areas** • Optimizing performance of large-scale workloads • Stability and stress testing infrastructure • Improving fault tolerance (HA) **Required Qualifications** • 5+ years of relevant work experience • Experience building scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems • Extensive C/C++ and low-level operating systems experience • Strong background in algorithms, data structures, and system design **Preferred Qualifications** • Knowledge of distributed model training and inference (tensor parallel, pipeline parallel) • GPU programming experience **Equal Opportunity** Anyscale is an Equal Opportunity Employer and E-Verify company.
