About this role
## Business Systems Analyst, Automation (Google Apps Script) **📍 Location:** Onsite, five days a week — Symphony Towers (Downtown San Diego, 92101) **🕒 Type:** Full Time **💰 Compensation:** $120,000–$150,000 (DOE) --- ### ⚙️ About the Role Own the automation layer for one of the fastest-growing E-Commerce businesses. Luminize helps manage **80+ brands** without linear headcount growth by building and maintaining **custom tools, integrations, and AI-powered workflows** that connect the operation. This is a **one-person** role (no engineering team) with a mandate to **delete work before you wire it together**. --- ### 🎯 What You’ll Own **Process Discovery & Design** - Partner with department leads to identify high-impact manual workflows and quantify the cost of the status quo (hours lost, errors, delays, missed handoffs) - Translate ambiguous business problems into scoped, deliverable solutions - Push back when a process needs redesign before it can be automated - Eliminate redundant work across teams **Automation Infrastructure** - Architect, build, and maintain custom tools across the Google ecosystem (**Apps Script, Sheets, Docs, Forms**) as a primary internal SME - Use **Zapier, Make.com, and Asana** to create automated handoffs between teams - Build integrations across **Asana, HubSpot, Google Workspace, Slack, and Looker Studio** to eliminate manual data entry and keep data in sync - Automate recurring end-to-end processes (client onboarding, reporting pipelines, internal HR workflows) - Add validation, guardrails, and exception handling to error-proof inputs **AI Integration** - Identify where LLMs (**Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT**) can replace manual analysis, summarization, categorization, or extraction - Build production AI workflows (e.g., client feedback categorization, transcript analysis, document parsing) **Adoption, Documentation & Governance** - Drive adoption through training, documentation, and hands-on end-user support - Write and maintain SOPs and runbooks so workflows are transparent and transferable - Partner with IT and Business Systems on infrastructure, access controls, and tool governance --- ### 🗓️ Your First 90 Days - **Weeks 1–3:** Sit with every department; return with a ranked list of manual work priced in hours/week - **Weeks 4–8:** Ship the top three - **Weeks 9–12:** Write runbooks and hand off the first one cleanly **How you’ll be measured:** **hours of low-value work eliminated** (not scripts shipped). If the right answer is a well-built Sheet template, that counts. --- ### ✅ What You Bring (Required) - Hands-on **Google Apps Script** and advanced **Google Sheets** you’ve written yourself - At least one of **Zapier** or **Make.com** running in production - A track record of finding your own work (walk into an unfamiliar operation, sit with people, build something worth shipping) - Ability to tell department leads when a process should be redesigned—or not automated at all --- ### 🔎 Helpful / Nice to Have - REST APIs & webhooks (authentication, pagination, rate limiting) - Experience with an **LLM API/AI tool** in a production workflow - Degree in Business Administration, IT, Computer Science, or related field - Experience with other automation platforms (n8n, Workato, Power Automate, Retool, Airtable, AppSheet) - Google Workspace administration experience - SQL and/or comfort building reporting on **Looker Studio and BigQuery** - Experience in a high-growth or multi-client environment
