**Sr. Software Engineer, Platform** **About the Role** Join the Search and Data Services team at Help Scout! You'll work on the next generation of large-scale search and reporting services, powering critical capabilities for 10,000+ companies. Your focus will be on scaling systems 10x beyond current load, building streaming data pipelines, improving search relevancy, and optimizing cost control for high-throughput, event-driven systems. **What You'll Do** • Build new features and improve existing systems with strong focus on scalability, testing, and maintainability • Participate in full development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, and backlog prioritization • Collaborate across engineering through code reviews and architectural discussions • Provide engineering support for escalated customer issues • Interview and hire future teammates **About You** • Passionate Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin preferred; full-stack experience is a bonus) • Take ownership across the full development lifecycle with deep focus on production readiness • Collaborative team member who shares knowledge and values feedback • Clear communicator in English for remote collaboration • Available for 4+ hours overlap with Central European working hours (US Eastern/Central time zones ideal) **Tech Stack** Kotlin, Java, JavaScript, PHP • Elasticsearch, ClickHouse, Kafka, Flink, RabbitMQ, MySQL, PostgreSQL • AWS ecosystem **Benefits** Competitive salary with transparent formula • Flexible time off • 12 weeks paid parental leave • $1,800 yearly professional development stipend • Home office & co-working stipends • Top-tier health insurance (US/Canada) **Location & Details** Fully remote, US-based hiring only.
