**Software Engineer, Private Computing** **About the Team** The Private Computing team builds advanced privacy products and infrastructure across product, engineering, security, and safety at OpenAI. We provide world-class security features ensuring private data remains private, using confidential computing, trusted execution environments, and end-to-end encryption across ChatGPT, API, and future consumer devices. **About the Role** Design, build, and scale novel privacy features and infrastructure across ChatGPT, API, and future consumer devices. **Key Responsibilities** • Ship fast while balancing trade-offs in complex domains • Build core abstractions for trusted execution environments and end-to-end encryption • Build product features for private inference and storage • Update build systems to increase trust and verifiability • Integrate with safety and integrity infrastructure • Operate systems at scale with high reliability (on-call rotation) • Collaborate across product, engineering, security, safety, policy, and legal teams **You Might Thrive If You Have** • Deep care for user privacy and security • 5+ years professional software engineering experience • Production experience with confidential computing or encryption technologies • Kubernetes and cloud orchestration experience • Pride in building scalable, reliable, secure systems • Strong collaboration and alignment skills • Comfort with ambiguity and rapid change **Location & Details** San Francisco, CA | Hybrid (4 days/week in office) | Relocation assistance available **About OpenAI** AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring general-purpose AI benefits all of humanity.
