**Software Engineer, Collections Infra** **About the Role** Help scale the infrastructure behind Notion's database block. You'll work on database load performance, microservices, high-volume writes from agents, and the systems that power views, boards, charts, and forms. This team bridges infrastructure and product, building backend architecture that improves customer experience while becoming a platform for other teams. **What You'll Achieve** • Understand how Collections Infra supports Notion's database block and ship performance/reliability improvements • Use AI as an engineering collaborator for learning systems, debugging, testing, and validation • Contribute to making databases faster and more reliable at P95 scale for enterprise workloads • Raise the quality bar through better architecture, observability, and documentation • Partner with senior engineers and product teams to evolve Collections as a platform **Skills You'll Need** • Strong backend engineering fundamentals with interest in performance, reliability, and scalability • Curiosity about distributed systems, microservices, and data-layer trade-offs • Practical comfort with JavaScript/TypeScript or ability to ramp quickly • Grit in technical problem-solving and finding real bottlenecks • Self-guided learning style using docs, code, teammates, and AI **Details** 📍 San Francisco or New York City (Anchor Days: Mon, Tue, Thu) 💰 $150,000 - $200,000/year base salary Notion is an equal opportunity employer.
