Work on real-time sync, query performance, and production instrumentation. Collaborate with product and frontend teams across San Francisco and Hyderabad. **What You'll Do** • Own backend surfaces from API contract through migration and rollout • Extend real-time sync paths: event streams, change data capture, and caching • Measure and improve query performance as workspaces scale • Instrument systems to catch degradations before customers report them • Debug production issues on hardware and networks you can't access • Work with product, frontend, and community members daily **What You'll Bring** • Shipped Python to production • Experience with Django or comparable frameworks • Comfortable in SQL (queries, indexes, optimization) • Written async Python in production (asyncio) • Debugged real production incidents • Clear written communication **Nice to Haves** • Contributed to open source or run self-hosted systems • Experience with event streams (Kafka, RabbitMQ) • Deployment expertise (containers, migrations, self-hosted releases) • Shipped to regulated/isolated environments (banking, defense, healthcare) • Built systems with AI agents and understand state/permissions/audit trails **Tech Stack** Python, Django, FastAPI, Postgres, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, AWS, Kubernetes, Datadog, Sentry **Why Plane?** Real scope serving Fortune 500s and startups.
