**Software Engineer, RL Data** **About the Role** As a Software Engineer on the RL Data team, you'll create the tasks, rewards, and environments that train coding agents. The team owns the data that goes into training: what the model is asked to do, how we score it, and the setups it learns in. **What You'll Do** • Design task sets that teach specific agent capabilities, then iterate from traces and evals until the model improves • Analyze agent traces to identify failure modes and build systems that surface similar patterns • Transform one-off recipes into reusable components: better rewards, cleaner environments, tighter data quality • Partner with research to validate that datasets teach intended capabilities **You May Be a Fit If** • You write careful, fast code with strong software engineering fundamentals • You enjoy breaking fuzzy capabilities into concrete, measurable tasks • You have infrastructure, data, or distributed systems experience (RL experience is a plus, not required) • You're comfortable analyzing messy real-world agent behavior and turning it into datasets or tools
