**Climate Data Scientist, Sustainability** **About Watershed** Watershed is the enterprise sustainability platform used by companies like Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa, and Dr. Martens to manage climate and ESG data, produce audit-ready metrics, and drive real decarbonization. **The Role** Join the Methodology team at the nexus of corporate sustainability, science, data, and software. You'll develop and maintain Watershed's industry-leading methodologies, translating sustainability science and GHG accounting standards into robust product logic. This is a technical, hands-on, collaborative role working with software engineers, data scientists, and product managers. **Key Responsibilities** • Develop and improve sustainability methodologies, translating science and standards into product logic • Partner with engineers and product managers to design rigorous, auditable, scalable features • Work in the codebase: review implementations, write specifications, contribute logic, and build tests • Interpret evolving standards (GHG Protocol, reporting frameworks, sector-specific methodologies) • Investigate complex questions at the intersection of science, data quality, and business context • Build pragmatic approaches for real-world business data • Collaborate with go-to-market and customer teams on methodology explanations • Set scientific quality standards through documentation and reviews **You Might Be a Fit If You Have** • Master's or PhD in climate science, environmental science, sustainability, industrial ecology, or related quantitative field • 5+ years in corporate sustainability, consulting, carbon accounting, or climate strategy • Systems thinking ability and deep knowledge of GHG accounting standards and reporting frameworks • Comfort reading and contributing to Python codebases • Strong communication skills across diverse audiences **Bonus Points** • Experience with carbon accounting methodologies, emissions datasets, LCA models, or sustainability software • Familiarity with GHG assurance or audit processes • Data skills in Python, SQL, or Typescript • Experience translating standards into technical specifications **Work Location** 4 days/week office required (except remote roles). Hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, Mexico City; satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, Berlin. **Interview Process** 1-2 initial conversations about Watershed and your experience, followed by skill/experience interview and panel interview.
