**Staff Research Scientist - Physical AI / Multimodality** **About the Role** Snowflake is seeking a Staff Research Scientist to build next-generation training and learning platforms for physical AI. This is a greenfield (0 to 1) effort at the intersection of representation learning, world models, and policy optimization. **Key Responsibilities** • Design and build scalable training infrastructure for representation models (contrastive, self-supervised approaches) • Develop latent world models that learn environment dynamics through imagined rollouts • Architect action/policy model pipelines, including vision-language-action models and diffusion-based policy learning • Build generative simulator frameworks for physically plausible future state generation • Develop multimodal generative capabilities fusing visual, language, and structured inputs • Lead cross-team technical decisions on training frameworks and evaluation infrastructure • Drive research-to-production pathways and contribute to broader research community **Required Qualifications** • 8+ years in machine learning engineering, AI research, or related field • Deep expertise in 2+ of: representation learning, world models, RL, generative modeling, robotics/embodied AI, scientific ML • Hands-on experience training large-scale models with distributed compute • Strong software engineering fundamentals and production-quality code • Ability to drive cross-team initiatives with ambiguity • MS or Ph.D. in CS, ML, Robotics, Physics, or equivalent experience **Bonus Experience** • Latent dynamics modeling, model-based RL, or physics-informed neural networks • Open-source ML framework contributions • Scientific/structured modeling background • Controllable video generation or neural simulation experience • Publications at top venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, CoRL, RSS) **Why Join** Define a new research direction from the ground up with infrastructure, data scale, and research ambition to make it real.
