**Data Engineer** **About the Role** Benchling is seeking a Data Engineer to join AI & Data Engineering (AIDE), a small autonomous team within our Security & IT organization. You'll own core data pipelines end-to-end, build the data foundation for AI initiatives, and maintain data governance across the company. **Key Responsibilities** • Build and operate production ELT pipelines moving data from Benchling's product, Salesforce, and third-party systems into Snowflake using dbt • Ensure data quality, governance, and PII compliance across the warehouse • Partner with AI engineering teams to provide governed, trustworthy data for agentic AI tooling • Monitor warehouse performance, costs, and pipeline health • Contribute to platform strategy on warehouse architecture and metrics design **Required Qualifications** • 3+ years building and operating production data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, modeling) • Strong SQL and Python skills with hands-on dbt experience • Production experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouse • Proficiency with orchestration tools (Airflow or similar) • Software engineering practices applied to data systems (version control, CI/CD, testing) • Experience supporting multiple stakeholders across Sales, CS, Product, Finance • Understanding of data privacy, governance, and quality frameworks • Strong communication skills translating ambiguous requests into scoped solutions **Nice to Have** • Product behavioral data and modern BI tool experience (Sigma, Omni, Looker, Tableau) • GTM analytics tools (Salesforce) familiarity • AI-usage telemetry or LLM observability experience • Enterprise SaaS, life sciences, or biotech background • Metrics layer building experience **Work Arrangement** Hybrid - 3 days on-site per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) **About Benchling** Benchling is the AI platform for biotech R&D, trusted by 200,000+ scientists worldwide including Sanofi, Moderna, and 50% of top 50 biopharma companies.
