**Member of Technical Staff, Agentic Systems** **About Mercor** Mercor organizes human intelligence to power the AI economy. Millions of domain experts are paid to train AI models, and we're creating new categories of work where expertise powers AI advancement. **The Role** As a Member of Technical Staff on Talent Experience, you'll build backend systems and agent infrastructure for Mercor's talent network. You'll design and ship services for agentic workflows including orchestration, tool interfaces, evaluation layers, and data models that keep agent decisions auditable and reversible. **What You'll Do** • Design and own backend services powering agentic workflows—orchestration, tool calling, retries, and human-in-the-loop review • Ship agents into production and iterate on them: prompts, tools, guardrails, cost and latency tradeoffs • Build evaluation infrastructure for offline evals, online metrics, and regression detection • Design core services, data models, and APIs that scale with the talent network • Make agent decisions observable, auditable, and reversible • Partner with product, operations, and AI researchers on agent design decisions • Establish backend engineering standards and raise technical bar **What We're Looking For** • 5+ years professional backend engineering experience • Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, service architecture, data modeling, and API design at scale • Hands-on experience building with LLMs in production or proven ability to learn fast • Comfort with ambiguity in agent system design • Track record of owning systems end-to-end • Fluent with modern AI development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, etc.) • Strong communication and technical judgment • High ownership and bias toward shipping **Why Mercor** Impact at scale, real ownership, learning from world-class engineers and AI researchers, and shape how Mercor builds with agents. **Benefits** Generous equity, $20K relocation bonus, $10K housing bonus, $1.5K monthly meals stipend, free Equinox membership, health insurance. **Location:** San Francisco (in-person, 5 days/week)
