**Senior Software Engineer, Evaluation Engine** **About the Role** Join Vanta's Evaluation Engine team to build the runtime platform powering security and compliance tests. You'll own complex projects spanning problem definition through implementation and operation, designing backend systems that scale reliably as Vanta grows. **Key Responsibilities** • Own complex projects from design through implementation, rollout, and operation • Design and evolve backend systems, APIs, and data models for Test execution and result processing • Improve reliability, correctness, performance, and observability of the Tests runtime • Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and build durable solutions • Simplify systems and improve abstractions for other engineering teams • Mentor engineers and contribute to team culture • Collaborate across teams on cross-system problems **What We're Looking For** • Strong experience building and operating reliable, scalable backend systems in production • Track record of independently delivering complex technical projects • Strong systems thinking and backend fundamentals (APIs, data modeling) • Excellent debugging and reasoning about correctness, reliability, and performance • Effective communicator who collaborates well across teams • Experience with TypeScript, GraphQL, MongoDB, and observability tools (Datadog) is a plus • Openness to using AI responsibly to amplify skills and efficiency • **Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship and reside/work exclusively within the US** **What You'll Get** Competitive salary + equity, comprehensive health coverage (100% employee premiums), 16 weeks paid parental leave, wellness stipend, remote workspace stipend, 401(k) matching, flexible PTO + 80 hours sick time, 11 holidays, and offices in SF, NYC, London, Dublin, Tel Aviv, and Sydney. **About Vanta** Vanta helps thousands of companies build, maintain, and demonstrate trust through continuous security monitoring and compliance automation.
