**Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), Healthcare - NYC** **About the Team** OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with healthcare organizations to deploy production AI systems across clinical, operational, and member-facing workflows. **About the Role** Own end-to-end deployments of AI models within healthcare organizations (payers, providers, health systems, healthcare tech companies). Lead technical discovery, architecture, implementation, evaluation, productionization, and handoff. Translate complex customer workflows, data, infrastructure, and regulatory constraints into production AI systems. **Key Responsibilities** • Own technical solutions end-to-end from discovery through handoff • Partner with customer engineers and domain experts to define scope and translate workflows into technical requirements • Design and implement production AI applications integrating with enterprise infrastructure, APIs, EHRs, and claims systems • Build with safeguards for PHI, HIPAA compliance, privacy, security, and governance • Define evaluations, validation evidence, and launch criteria • Distill learnings into reference architectures and reusable technical primitives **You Might Thrive If You Have** • 6+ years of software engineering, ML/AI engineering, solutions engineering, or comparable experience • Experience as a senior engineer, tech lead, or deployment owner in ambiguous environments • Healthcare domain experience (payer workflows, provider operations, EHR systems, HL7, FHIR, Epic) • Hands-on experience shipping complex customer-facing or enterprise systems • Strong judgment in AI evaluation, privacy, security, and reliability **Location & Work Model** New York City | Hybrid (3 days/week in office) | Up to 50% travel | Relocation assistance available **About OpenAI** AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring general-purpose AI benefits all of humanity.
