**Senior Database Reliability Engineer** **About Prompt Health** Revolutionizing healthcare with highly automated B2B enterprise software for rehab therapy businesses. We're the go-to platform in the space, setting new standards in healthcare technology. **The Role** Own the health, performance, and cost-efficiency of databases powering our EMR and products. This role goes beyond responding to alerts—diagnose root causes, prevent recurrence, and shape architecture for scalable growth. **Key Responsibilities** • Own reliability, performance, and availability of production databases (Aurora MySQL on AWS) • Manage database alerting and observability pipeline (Datadog integration) • Educate teams on database hygiene and query optimization • Implement automated safeguards and query termination • Author and maintain database runbooks • Optimize problematic queries and reduce latency • Review EMR/application queries before release • Architect and right-size Aurora reader topology • Own database cost efficiency and capacity planning • Manage replication, backups, failover, and disaster recovery • Establish safe schema-change practices • Handle PHI responsibly in HIPAA-compliant environment **Required Qualifications** • 6+ years in database reliability engineering, DBA, or database engineering • Deep MySQL expertise (query optimization, execution plans, indexing, replication) • Aurora MySQL experience strongly preferred • Large multi-reader Aurora/RDS cluster operations at terabyte scale • Database observability tools (Datadog, PMM, Performance Insights, Prometheus/Grafana) • Scripting proficiency (Python, Bash) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) • AWS operational depth (RDS/Aurora, cost optimization) • On-call/incident response and runbook experience • Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration **Preferred Skills** • Cloud data warehouse experience (Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift) • HIPAA or compliance-heavy environment experience • Query auto-remediation tooling familiarity • Application-side knowledge (PHP) • Database and cloud security best practices • Agile methodology experience **Perks** Competitive salary, remote/hybrid, equity potential, flexible PTO, sponsored lunches, disability/life insurance, family/medical leave, medical/dental/vision, pet insurance, FSA/DCA, commuter benefits, 401k, fitness credits, recovery suite at HQ. **Equal Opportunity Employer** | E-Verify Employer
