**Senior Software Engineer - Observe by Snowflake, Data Management** **About the Role** Own the data modeling product surface at Observe by Snowflake - designing APIs, schemas, and abstractions for how customers create tables, views, and materialized views that unify telemetry for correlation and querying at petabyte scale. **Key Responsibilities** • Own data modeling APIs, schemas, and abstractions for high-performance execution at scale • Design abstractions for streaming materialized views, reference tables, and log-derived metrics • Define freshness and staleness semantics with controls to balance query latency vs. compute cost • Design APIs with strong schema taste: versioning, backwards compatibility, and clean system contracts • Drive requirements and shape the execution engine based on product needs • Lead a team technically - set architectural direction, write production code, and mentor engineers **Required Qualifications** • 5+ years software engineering experience with deep expertise in databases, SQL, stream processing, or data pipelines • Deep knowledge of data processing/streaming internals (late-arriving data, backfill, event-time vs. processing-time semantics) • Demonstrated experience designing and shipping APIs with strong DB schema design taste • Architect's mental model - think in systems, interfaces, contracts, and long-term evolution • Strong user empathy and product intuition • Proficiency in Go or another systems language for production-grade distributed systems code **Bonus Qualifications** • Experience building customer-facing data modeling or pipeline authoring products • Hands-on production streaming experience: watermarks, windowing, ordering, delivery guarantees • Background designing query languages, schema DSLs, or transformation DAG semantics • Experience building internal data platforms from raw event streams to curated tables • Familiarity with Apache Iceberg, open table formats, or data lakehouse architectures **Why Join** Shape how thousands of teams go from raw telemetry to structured, queryable data.
