A profitable Series C company ($10B valuation) building infrastructure between human expertise and frontier AI models. **About Deeptune Environments** A Mercor team building platforms and tooling for AI labs to train agents through reinforcement learning, turning real-world tasks into training environments at scale. **The Role** You'll build end-to-end systems for high-fidelity simulation environments: - Simulation platforms, APIs, and tool interfaces for agents - Grading/verification layers for task success - Pipelines converting human demonstrations into training-ready environments - Backend infrastructure for orchestration and sandboxing at scale High-ownership work alongside RL researchers—translating research specs into fast, correct, reliable systems. **What You'll Do** - Build environment systems end-to-end (simulated apps, agent interfaces, task definitions, verifiers) - Design and operate backend infrastructure (containers, orchestration, queues, observability) - Transform messy human data into clean, reproducible training environments - Balance reliability, speed, and correctness - Interface directly with labs and researchers **What We're Looking For** - 2+ years full-stack/backend engineering (1+ year at startup, ideally founding/early engineer) - Strong generalist with systems depth; fluent in Python or similar - Working knowledge of post-training, evals, and reward modeling - Thrives in ambiguity; scopes own work and ships without detailed specs - Raises the bar around you **Bonus Skills**: Sandboxing/virtualization, browser automation, CI/build systems, developer tooling **Culture Fit** Ownership-driven, craft-focused, comfortable with hard problems and diverse perspectives. In-person 5 days/week (10am-8pm ET) from San Francisco, NYC, or London offices.
