**Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer, Model Platform)** **About the Role** Perplexity is seeking a deeply technical software engineer to own and evolve their model serving platform. This mission-critical system connects products and research systems with inference layers, providing teams with a fast, reliable interface across providers. You'll work at the intersection of distributed systems, AI products, and infrastructure. **Key Responsibilities** • Design core abstractions for model serving infrastructure • Lead high-conviction technical decisions • Write production Rust and Python for a service handling hundreds of millions of model requests daily • Make it easier for teams to adopt new models, run experiments, and ship dependable products **Required Qualifications** • 5+ years building and shipping large-scale systems with high reliability, availability, and performance • Strong software engineering craft with focus on developer experience • Proficiency with backend languages (Python, Rust, C++, Go) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes) • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) • Sound technical judgment in production systems with curiosity about frontier model capabilities **Why Perplexity** Craftsmanship, ownership, entrepreneurship, scholarship, and partnership drive the culture.
