## About the Role HTS Assist is Hopper's agentic AI assistant for travel—resolving flight changes, cancellations, refunds, and bookings over chat and voice for some of the world’s largest travel brands. We’re looking for a **Senior Full Stack Engineer** to anchor the product, owning the **realtime and voice layer end-to-end**. ## What You’ll Do (Day-to-Day) - **Own the voice channel end-to-end**, including telephony and CPaaS integrations (e.g., **Twilio**, **Amazon Connect**) - Build **streaming speech-to-text** and **text-to-speech** pipelines - Drive **realtime model orchestration**, with a focus on **latency and quality budgets** - Build product features across the stack: - **Web chat front ends** in **React/TypeScript** - **Backend services** in **Scala** and **Python** - **Infrastructure** on **GCP** - Design for **multi-tenant scale** (one codebase serving many partners via configuration) - Implement **safety and compliance** plumbing for enterprise partners (guardrails, content filtering, **PII redaction** integration points) - Keep **revenue-critical deployments** healthy with observability, alerting, incident response, and SLA performance - Support partner telephony integrations and go-lives (forward-deployed capabilities) - Raise the engineering bar through code reviews, architecture reviews, and mentoring ## What We’re Looking For - **6+ years** of software engineering experience with senior-level ownership of production systems and genuine full-stack range - **Hands-on realtime systems** experience (voice applications, WebRTC/SIP, streaming media, or comparable low-latency products) - Strong modern front-end skills (**React, TypeScript**) and backend depth (**Scala/JVM and/or Python**), plus cloud experience (**GCP or AWS**) - Track record designing/building/maintaining **RESTful APIs**, **microservices**, or **event-driven systems** - Familiarity using **AI coding tools** as part of your workflow, with the judgment to review/correct/own what ships - **Operable-systems mindset**: SLAs, observability, on-call, rollback plans - Ability to break down complex problems, make pragmatic tradeoffs, and ship iteratively with strong cross-functional communication ## Bonus Points - Conversational AI / **LLM orchestration** experience, including speech technologies (e.g., **Deepgram**, **ElevenLabs**, **Whisper**, **OpenAI Realtime**) - Knowledge of cloud telephony / CPaaS (e.g., **Twilio**, **Amazon Connect**, **Genesys**, **LiveKit**) - Experience building customer service, CRM, contact center, or workflow automation tools - Familiarity with travel industry technologies (PSS/GDS, hotel PMS/CRS) ## Perks & Benefits - Well-funded startup with competitive salary and **pre-IPO equity** - **Unlimited PTO** - **Carrot Cash travel stipend** - Co-working access via **FlexDesk** + **work-from-home stipend** - **Generous parental leave** - Entrepreneurial culture—pushing limits and taking risks - Open communication with the team
