**Staff Network Engineer, App Platform** **About the Role** Scale is seeking a Staff Network Engineer to own network architecture for Scale GP (Scale Generative AI Platform), an enterprise AI platform deployed across AWS, Azure, and GCP. You'll establish architectural standards for how the platform connects to customer infrastructure and manages traffic across highly regulated industries including healthcare, financial services, telecom, and retail. **Key Responsibilities** • Own network architecture across Kubernetes environments spanning AWS, Azure, and GCP, including customer-owned cloud accounts • Design and review VPC architectures, peering, DNS, load balancing, and CDN/edge configurations • Define standard connectivity patterns between Scale's control plane and customer data planes (VPC peering, PrivateLink, site-to-site VPN) • Own customer-boundary delivery: CI/CD mirroring, artifact scanning, private registries, and ingress patterns • Manage engineer access into customer and internal environments (Tailscale/Teleport/bastion solutions) • Own Kubernetes traffic layer: Istio/Envoy mesh, CNI, and NetworkPolicy for agent-sandbox pods • Partner with security engineering on network segmentation and zero-trust access • Debug complex connectivity and latency issues across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments • Document architecture, standards, and runbooks for team adoption **Required Experience** • 5+ years of network engineering in production cloud environments • Deep expertise in cloud networking (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP): VPC design, peering, Transit Gateway, private connectivity, DNS • Kubernetes networking depth: CNI, ingress, NetworkPolicy, service mesh (Istio/Envoy) • Strong TCP/IP, BGP, routing, firewalls, VPN, and TLS fundamentals • Experience defining and enforcing network standards through design review • Infrastructure-as-code proficiency (Terraform preferred) • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences **Preferred Qualifications** • Edge/CDN platform experience (Cloudflare) • Network security and compliance in regulated industries (healthcare, finance, government, FedRAMP/GovCloud, air-gapped) • Build-vs-adopt decision experience with vendor or contractual consequences **Why This Matters** You'll be the point of accountability for network architecture as SGP scales, raising deployment quality, unblocking confident decisions, and keeping the platform boundary clean. **Locations:** San Francisco, New York, Seattle
