**Junior Engineer, Web Apps** **About the Role** Join Notability's team to evolve the web app that helps millions of students, educators, and professionals learn better. You'll work on collaborative authoring, real-time content capture, and AI-powered study tools using React and TypeScript. **Your Responsibilities** • Communicate clearly in writing and conversation; craft crisp problem statements and readable PRs • Drive work to completion, navigating ambiguity and edge cases • Ship stable, well-tested code that delivers efficient and delightful experiences • Jump into unfamiliar areas to solve tough problems • Collaborate respectfully and bring ideas to the table • Continuously improve through feedback from mentors and peers **What We're Looking For** • Clear, concise communication (written and verbal) • Good judgment and ownership of outcomes • Genuine care for collaboration and building trust • Evidence of shipping something real (professional or personal) • Comfort reading React, TypeScript, and modern web code • Solid grasp of web fundamentals (browser, network, async, state) • Daily fluency with AI coding tools • Demonstrated curiosity and self-directed learning **Nice to Have** • Redux or global state management experience • Canvas/WebGL or rendering engines (Three.js, PixiJS) • Web performance optimization knowledge • LLM APIs or AI-assisted developer workflows • Public writing, teaching, or learning **Compensation & Benefits** $120,000–$175,000 base salary • Equity (Stock Options) • Fully covered healthcare (medical, dental, vision) • 401k matching • Flexible work and vacation • Transit, lunch, home office, ISP, and phone stipends • Matching gifts to nonprofits **Work Style** Hybrid (minimum 2 days onsite in downtown San Francisco).
