**Forward Deployed Engineer, Legal [Office of the CTO]** **About the Role** Embed as a founding engineer within Coinbase's Legal organization, sitting directly in the Office of the CTO. You'll identify high-value workflow opportunities, rapidly prototype AI solutions, and drive adoption across the Legal org. Act as the connective tissue between Legal stakeholders and engineering teams maintaining Coinbase's AI platform. **What You'll Do** • Embed with Legal leadership to surface automation opportunities with greatest business leverage (contract review, regulatory filings, subsidiary governance) • Prototype quickly using Coinbase's existing AI platform before recommending new builds • Own the Legal automation roadmap in partnership with VP of Legal and CCO • Define build-vs-buy strategy for Legal tooling • Ensure automated legal outputs are traceable, reviewable, and defensible with privilege boundaries and human-in-the-loop controls • Drive adoption through brown-bags, walkthroughs, and feedback loops **Required Experience** • 5+ years software engineering shipping production systems in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments • Hands-on LLM deployment experience (prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, hallucination guardrails, human-in-the-loop design) • Proven ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate workflows into engineering requirements • Familiarity with legal/compliance systems (contract lifecycle, regulatory workflows, entity governance, privilege-sensitive data) • Multi-agent orchestration concepts experience • Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or embedded technical advisory background (legal-tech, compliance-tech, or RegTech preferred) • Responsible generative AI usage with human oversight **Compensation** $218,025 – $256,500 USD base salary (excludes equity and bonus) **Equal Opportunity Employer** | Remote-first, quarterly in-person surges
