**Forward Deployed Engineer, Compliance [Office of the CTO]** **About the Role** Embed as a founding engineer within Coinbase's Compliance organization, sitting directly in the Office of the CTO. You'll identify high-value workflow automation opportunities, rapidly prototype solutions using Coinbase's AI platform, and drive adoption across the Compliance org. Act as the connective tissue between Compliance stakeholders and engineering teams. **What You'll Do** • Embed with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to surface automation opportunities in transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory change management, and exam preparation • Prototype quickly using Coinbase's existing AI platform before recommending new builds • Own the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer • Define build-vs-buy strategy for Compliance tooling • Ensure automated compliance outputs are traceable, reviewable, and defensible to regulators with auditability and human-in-the-loop controls • Drive adoption through brown-bags, walkthroughs, and feedback loops **Required Experience** • 5+ years of software engineering with proven ability to ship production systems in ambiguous, stakeholder-heavy environments • Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications (prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, hallucination guardrails, human-in-the-loop design) • Ability to embed with domain experts, internalize complex workflows, and translate to engineering requirements • Familiarity with compliance concepts: transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filings, case management, audit-ready data handling • Knowledge of multi-agent orchestration, handoffs, escalation, and auditability • Experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or embedded technical advisory roles (compliance-tech, RegTech, or financial services preferred) • Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight **Compensation** $218,025 – $256,500 USD base salary (excludes equity and bonus) **Job ID:** #P77745
