**Sr. Staff Technical Architect, Unified Trading** **About the Role** Coinbase is building the future of institutional trading as part of the Everything Exchange. As an Architect on the Trading team, you'll design, build, and own core trading systems: order and execution management, algo execution, settlement, multi-venue connectivity, and low-latency messaging serving Retail, Prime, and wholesale brokerage customers. **What You'll Do** • Own the architecture of the end-to-end trading platform: sequencer, low-latency connectivity, OMS/EMS, multi-venue connectivity, and execution • Design low-latency, high-throughput systems for real-time financial products • Drive reliability and performance, owning SLOs, observability, and incident response • Set technical standards through code reviews and design, paying down critical technical debt • Reduce single-point-of-failure risk and build team resilience through mentorship • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Risk, Security, and Compliance **Required Experience** • Hands-on architect with proven ability to design, build, and support 24/7 trading systems processing billions in daily transactions • Extensive backend engineering experience with complex, production-grade distributed systems • Track record architecting end-to-end trading platforms (OMS, front/middle office, multi-exchange connectivity) • Deep proficiency in low-latency Java and high-throughput messaging (Aeron, SBE, or similar) • Experience delivering projects end-to-end: scoping, architecture, implementation, monitoring, iteration • Background in regulated or financial environments where correctness, auditability, and low-latency performance are critical • Demonstrated ability making user-facing product decisions balancing engineering trade-offs • Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight **Compensation** Base salary: $253,895 – $298,700 USD (varies by location) Total compensation includes equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)) **Position ID:** P77879
