**Senior Software Engineer, Compute Platform** **About the Role** Own the primary compute orchestration infrastructure that powers every service at Coinbase. Built on CNCF technologies including Kubernetes and Istio, you'll design and ship tooling, automation, and capabilities that enable hundreds of engineers to deploy and operate critical services reliably and efficiently. **What You'll Do** • Own design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation • Build developer-facing tooling and workflows with AI-driven processes and support • Deliver net-new compute capabilities (one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, EFS support, automated right-sizing) • Drive operational excellence by automating toil and improving observability • Partner with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams on platform standards **Required Experience** • 5+ years software engineering experience, including 3+ years with Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems (Mesos, Nomad, ECS) • Proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or similar languages with production infrastructure experience • Hands-on AWS/GCP experience (EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC, networking) at scale • Ability to design, implement, and operate distributed infrastructure systems • Experience with CNCF ecosystem (Helm, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Envoy) • Proven ability to apply AI tooling to infrastructure workflows • Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight **Compensation** $186,065 – $218,900 USD base salary (varies by location) Total compensation includes equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)) **Work Environment** Remote-first with quarterly in-person "surge" sessions for intense collaboration.
