**Software Development Engineer III – Test Infrastructure** **Level:** SDE III (Individual Contributor) **Department:** Quality Engineering **Location:** Mountain View, CA (Onsite) **Pay Range:** $123,950 – $154,000 USD **Position Overview** Build and maintain automation frameworks and testing infrastructure for ID.me's engineering teams. You'll develop functional, end-to-end, and security-focused test automation, extend testing coverage into production through canary releases and progressive delivery, and apply AI-assisted testing practices. Work on test coverage for consumer-facing commerce and marketplace experiences alongside core platform and identity services. **Key Responsibilities** • Build automation frameworks (Playwright, Python, Jest, API automation) with comprehensive test coverage • Develop end-to-end and integration tests for complex, asynchronous, event-driven systems including Temporal workflows • Support testing-in-production practices: canary deployments, progressive rollouts, synthetic monitoring, automated rollback • Build test automation for commerce surfaces: offers, cashback, affiliate/attribution, consent gates, persona-based experiences • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) with reusable workflow components • Use AI tools to accelerate test authoring and code review • Collaborate with development teams on testable code structure and coverage gaps • Debug and root-cause issues across frontend, backend, APIs, and distributed services • Define and track reliability metrics for tested systems **Minimum Qualifications** • 4+ years as a software engineer in modern web applications and distributed systems (or 2+ years with Master's degree) • Proficiency in Python/TypeScript/JavaScript/Java • Hands-on experience with Playwright, Jest, and API automation • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines • Experience testing e-commerce/marketplace experiences **Preferred Qualifications** • Browser & client-side testing (extensions, page objects, network stubbing) • API & systems testing (REST, microservices, event-driven architectures, Temporal) • Testing strategy & ops (canary/phased rollouts, contract testing, performance testing) • Engineering platform experience (Java/Spring Boot, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) • Identity & security knowledge (OAuth 2.0/OIDC, RBAC, secrets management) • AI-augmented testing experience • Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills
