Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, we've given over 500,000 autonomous rides to real people globally since 2017. **Job Summary** Lead the design and evolution of a flexible Quality Management System spanning the full vehicle platform lifecycle. This is a systems-building role—not traditional audit-and-compliance. You'll lead a high-performing team to automate quality processes and drive continuous improvement from design through field support. **Key Responsibilities** • Re-architect and evolve a flexible QMS synced with the Safety Management System for Autonomy • Build closed-loop continuous improvement processes (root cause analysis, CAPA workflows, trend analysis) • Establish design-control practices sized for safety-critical risk without slowing engineering velocity • Automate manual quality processes using AI/ML, LLMs, and workflow automation • Partner with autonomy, engineering, fleet ops, and support teams on field issues • Define quality KPIs/OKRs measuring platform and QMS health • Engage suppliers on quality issues and corrective actions • Build and grow a high-leverage quality systems function **Required Qualifications** • 5+ years building/leading quality systems in hardware/software engineering (automotive, robotics, aerospace, or safety-critical fields) • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical field • Hands-on experience with design controls, V&V, change management, root cause/CAPA • Demonstrated builder's mindset—you've built or substantially improved a quality system • Comfort automating manual quality work • Experience with issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira) for lifecycle traceability • Excellent written and verbal communication skills **Desirable Qualifications** • Master's degree in engineering, operations, or quality-related field • Startup/fast-scaling experience building functions from scratch • Knowledge of ISO/IATF, ISO 26262, or similar frameworks • Hands-on experience with AI/LLM tooling or workflow automation • Autonomous vehicle or robotics/safety-critical technology experience • ASQ or Lean Six Sigma certification
