**Staff HITL Engineer** **About the Team:** The Interplanetary Sciences Program is building a philanthropically funded Mars science orbiter targeted to launch in 2028. You will build the integrated hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test capability that allows the spacecraft team to test early, continuously, and with real hardware. **About the Role:** This is a hands-on integration and test role spanning hardware, software automation, and spacecraft-level validation. You will: • Design, build, and maintain the ISP HITL test environment end to end • Build simulation, data-acquisition, and control infrastructure • Develop software fixturing, automated test frameworks, and CI/regression pipelines • Debug integrated failures across flight software, avionics, interfaces, and test infrastructure • Validate timing-sensitive behavior across sensors, actuators, payloads, and communication buses • Establish dashboards, telemetry views, and test procedures for system health visibility • Drive final integration and test of flight hardware leading into launch **About You:** • Degree in computer, electrical, aerospace, or related engineering field (or equivalent experience) • 7+ years of test engineering experience, architecting automated test frameworks • Strong software skills for test automation, tooling, and validation pipelines • Track record building test automation and CI/regression infrastructure from the ground up • Hands-on hardware and embedded systems experience with standard electronics equipment • Demonstrated ability to own complex test capabilities end to end and coordinate across teams **Nice to Haves:** • Experience standing up HITL systems, SIL/HIL environments, or lab automation from scratch • Experience with spacecraft, satellites, launch vehicles, or other high-reliability hardware • Hands-on harnessing, cable fabrication, or test equipment setup experience • Experience establishing test practices and processes in fast-moving environments
