**Data Infra Engineer** **About the Role:** Waymo is seeking a Data Infra Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-throughput distributed backend components powering our Commercialization Data Lake. This is a hybrid position. **You Will:** • Design and develop high-throughput distributed backend services (C++, Flume/Apache Spark/Flink/Beam) • Own scalable ingestion of data from raw system telemetry and RPC logs, processing petabytes into reliable canonical base tables • Build and democratize Data Pipeline Services with standard templates and self-service gateways • Implement compliance, privacy, and security infrastructure (GDPR, ACL management, identity proxies) • Establish operational standards with regression tests, staging environments, and Canary/Progressive rollouts • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Product Data Scientists on platform consistency and DAG architecture **You Have:** • BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent • 4+ years of professional backend software engineering experience in distributed systems and databases • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles • Advanced proficiency in C++ and SQL for high-throughput batch and streaming pipelines • Experience with hardened release setups (Canarying, Staging, Automated Rollbacks) **We Prefer:** • Extensive experience with distributed processing frameworks (Spark, Flink, Beam, Hadoop, Flume) • Data Warehouse/Data Lake systems experience • Data Governance, Privacy, or Compliance infrastructure expertise • Proficiency with Google-internal pipeline stacks (Flume, SQLP, Rapid, CAS, F1) **Compensation:** Salary Range: $213,000–$263,000 USD Eligible for annual bonus, equity incentive plan, and company benefits.
