**Software Engineer, Data Platform** **About the Company** General Matter enriches uranium and is designing, building, and operating the world's lowest-cost enrichment services in the US. The mission is to make nuclear the cleanest, safest, and most affordable source of baseload power to support AI, advanced manufacturing, and critical industries. **About This Role** Design and implement the data acquisition, storage, and streaming backbone for test stands and production systems. Build reliable, scalable data pipelines that ingest high-throughput, high-channel-count sensor telemetry without loss and serve it to visualization and analytics layers. **Key Responsibilities** • Design and maintain high-throughput data pipelines for kHz-class, high-channel-count sensor telemetry • Design and operate time-series storage and industrial data historians for long-term retention and query performance • Build ingestion and streaming services with focus on buffering, backpressure, idempotency, and zero data loss • Define modern software engineering practices, data architecture, and operational best practices • Collaborate with controls, test automation, and visualization teams • Lead debugging and reliability improvements across the full ingestion-to-storage stack **Basic Qualifications** • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field • 5+ years building data pipelines, streaming systems, or backend data infrastructure • Production-level experience in Python and SQL • Hands-on experience with high-throughput data ingestion and time-series storage • Experience with high-reliability, on-premise, 24/7 deployments in safety-critical environments **Preferred Skills** • Time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB), in-memory data stores (Redis), OT/industrial data historians • Streaming and pub/sub middleware (MQTT, DDS, OPC-UA, Kafka) • High-channel-count sensor data and reliability engineering • Observability, infrastructure-as-code, visualization tools (Grafana) • Background in industrial automation, aerospace, energy, finance, or scientific research • Technical leadership and team mentoring experience **Compensation** Base salary: $125,000–$220,000 annually, plus stock options and benefits (medical, vision, dental, 401k). **Additional Notes** Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
