**Director of Security Engineering** **About the Role** Lead and grow Asana's Security Engineering organization as we continue expanding globally. This leadership position translates high-level security strategy into technical reality, ensuring resilient infrastructure and world-class internal security tooling across our SaaS environment. **What You'll Achieve** • Build security by construction, design, and default throughout Asana's products and infrastructure • Accelerate development lifecycle by creating frameworks, services, and libraries that solve security problems • Drive security features as product differentiators and represent customer needs • Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary engineering team with focus on technical excellence and accountability • Own the security engineering roadmap with high-quality delivery and measurable risk reduction • Recruit top-tier talent and establish clear career paths for your team • Embed security requirements directly into system designs and development workflows • Oversee complex design reviews ensuring inherent security in infrastructure and features **About You** • 10+ years in security and software engineering; 3+ years directly managing high-performing teams • Strong software engineering background with ability to lead deep-dive design reviews • Deep understanding of application security (OWASP), cloud-native architecture, identity frameworks (OAuth, OIDC, SAML) • Hands-on experience with security controls in AWS or similar cloud environments at scale • Excel at balancing security with business needs and communicating risk-informed decisions • Proven track record shipping internal tools that improve security posture • Fluent with AI tools and understand their security implications **Location & Schedule** San Francisco office with hybrid schedule (Mon/Tue/Thu in-office) **Compensation** Base salary: $306,000 - $360,000 (based on qualifications) Equity, benefits including mental health support, career coaching, family building benefits, and retirement plans
