**Senior GRC Engineer** **About the Role** Block Information Security is seeking a Senior GRC Engineer to join our Security Governance team. You'll build data pipelines, integrations, and agentic AI workflows that transform manual governance processes into continuous, auditable products. Most governance is a data problem—you'll treat it as an engineering challenge. **Key Responsibilities** • Build pipelines and integrations aggregating risk, control, and asset signals from systems across Block • Translate security standards into policy-as-code: enforceable, testable rules that run continuously • Design agentic AI workflows pairing LLM reasoning with deterministic, auditable decision layers • Build evals, benchmarks, and calibration harnesses for automated governance • Automate evidence collection and continuous control monitoring • Define technical approaches for ambiguous, cross-team problem spaces • Partner with Security Governance, Compliance, and Engineering teams • Help govern Block's own AI systems • Contribute to technical design discussions on platform security and reliability **Required Experience** • 7+ years building production software (backend, platform, data, or security engineering) • Multi-year ownership of a production system with on-call and SLO responsibilities • Proficiency in Python, Kotlin, Java, or Go • Hands-on LLM experience (prompting, tool use, agents, or LLM-backed features) • Experience with integration patterns (REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, event-driven architectures) • Data pipeline experience: pulling, normalizing, and joining data from multiple sources • Experience defining technical direction across team boundaries • Attention to detail balanced with pragmatic risk-based prioritization **Nice to Have** • Knowledge of security/compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, SOX, SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST) • Production-scale LLM or agentic systems experience **Technologies** Python, Java, Kotlin, Go • Claude/LLM APIs • Agent frameworks & Model Context Protocol • HTTP, JSON, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, SQL, Snowflake • AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Buildkite **Compensation** (U.S. locations, market-based) Zone A: $217,800–$326,800 | Zone B: $207,000–$310,400 | Zone C: $196,100–$294,100 | Zone D: $185,200–$277,800 *Block is an equal opportunity employer.
