**Senior Platform Engineer** **Experience Required:** 5+ years in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering **About the Role** Natera is building an Internal Developer Portal and seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead this effort. This is a hands-on software engineering role where you'll write the portal, golden paths, and integrations—not just configure existing tools. You'll bring established capability into the portal as first-class golden paths, re-envisioned rather than wrapped. Success is measured by developer adoption. **What You'll Do** *Build the Internal Developer Portal* • **Platform Foundation:** Implement and operate the portal as a product with real users, measured adoption, and a roadmap • **Service Catalog:** Build a reliable system of record for services and infrastructure with automated ingestion from source-of-truth systems • **Integrations & Extensibility:** Connect the portal to cloud accounts, CI/CD systems, secrets management, and internal APIs *Build Golden Paths* • Shape and build within the golden path framework using templates, scaffolding, and standards • Be a main builder of Infrastructure Provisioning golden paths as reference implementations • Support other teams through documentation, pairing, and code review • Reimagine existing pipelines and procedures as portal-native journeys • Help make the platform readable by AI coding agents with structured metadata *Drive Adoption* • Prove golden paths against real high-frequency workflows • Support teams through onboarding and prioritize on measured friction • Build scorecards that make platform and compliance expectations visible **What You Bring** • **Platform Expertise:** 5+ years with shared services, solid AWS (IAM, multi-account, EKS), Terraform, Kubernetes, and reusable CI/CD pipelines • **Software Engineering:** Strong programming in a modern language with production discipline • **Portal Experience:** Internal developer portal, platform, or comparable self-service tooling experience • **Improving What Exists:** Experience turning scattered capability into coherent, self-service solutions • **Application Engineering:** TypeScript and React, or equivalent modern language/framework experience • **Ownership:** Take features from design through production and support them • **AI-Native Practice:** Fluent use of AI coding assistants and agentic tooling • **Platform as Product:** Treat internal engineers as customers; care about adoption and regulated environments • **Communication:** Clear writing for design documents, ADRs, and operational documentation **Bonus Points** • Hands-on experience with Backstage or Port • Experience migrating/consolidating internal tooling • Docs-as-code systems (TechDocs, MkDocs) • Operating stateful web applications in production • Open-source platform contributions **Compensation** Remote USA: $125,000–$156,300 USD (based on experience, skills, certifications, and location)
