Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet. **About the Team** The Storage Abstractions (STAX) team builds the software layer through which Stripe services access stored data. We own the database SDKs that hundreds of Ruby and Java services use to read and write data safely, reliably, and efficiently. We're designing for AI agents as customers of this foundation, making storage capabilities discoverable, interoperable, and safe across languages and backends. **What You'll Do** • Set technical direction and lead multi-year initiatives at the intersection of developer infrastructure, data access, and AI • Evolve storage abstractions for consistent capabilities across languages, API versions, and storage backends • Design stable interfaces and guardrails that improve data correctness, reliability, observability, and performance • Treat AI agents as customers by building agent-accessible SDKs and frameworks • Partner with senior leaders and infrastructure teams to solve cross-organizational data architecture challenges • Mentor engineers and raise the bar for technical design and operational excellence **Requirements** • 12+ years professional software engineering experience • 5+ years leading technical strategy and delivery for complex, cross-team initiatives • Experience leading teams on API design, SDKs, abstractions, frameworks, or client libraries • Experience designing reliable distributed systems with focus on data correctness and safe infrastructure evolution • Track record of customer-centricity and delivering pragmatic solutions • Proficiency in Java, Ruby, or Python • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills **Preferred Qualifications** • Experience with MongoDB, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, RocksDB, or relational databases • Experience guiding adoption of shared developer platforms across large organizations • Background in fintech or environments where data correctness is critical • Experience with observability tooling and incident response processes
